We are looking for a dedicated school-based youth support officer to empower young people by designing and implementing innovative, evidence-based programs that enhance their personal and social skills for successful reintegration into the community.

About Us:
Intercept, part of Lutheran Services, offers early intervention and prevention services for young people and their families. This program collaborates with the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre to provide support services that enhance student engagement in BYETC’s Student Wellbeing and Personal Development program.


About The Role:
Position     : School Based Youth Support Officer
Contract    : Until 31/12/2025, with potential for extension
Location    : Wacol (Brisbane Youth Detention Centre)
Reports to : Program Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Innovate and Inspire: Create and deliver cutting-edge, evidence-based programs that engage and motivate young people.
  • Group Support: Provide group assistance to guide personal and educational journeys.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with community partners and support services to enhance program effectiveness.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Desirable: Qualification in psychology, social work, human service or related field.
  • Essential: Experience in a youth mentorship environment, current Australian Driver’s License, a positive Working with Children (Blue Card) check, and NDIS Clearance.
