Youth Mentor - Alternate Education

We’re looking for a Youth Mentor to join our Alternate Education Program at Intercept, based in Caboolture. Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome challenges, build confidence, and stay engaged in their learning journey?

You’ll work directly with young people aged 14–17, many of whom are at risk of disengagement, disability, or have faced barriers in traditional education.

Location: Intercept Community Services, Caboolture
Casual Role:

  • Monday to Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Thursday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

About The Role:
As a Youth Mentor, you will:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group mentoring in a structured learning environment.
  • Support students to build interpersonal skills, confidence, and independence.
  • Serve as a positive role model through consistent engagement and encouragement.
  • Assist with student participation and classroom support, in partnership with facilitators.
  • Foster a calm, respectful and safe learning environment.
  • Work alongside a multidisciplinary team to promote wellbeing and educational outcomes

About You:
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you:

  • Have experience in youth work, mentoring, education, or community services
  • Are confident engaging with young people from diverse and complex backgrounds
  • Bring a calm, patient and strengths-based approach to your work
  • Thrive in a collaborative team and school-like environment
  • Communicate clearly and know how to build trust with young people

Requirements:

  • Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid QLD Driver’s Licence

Desirable:

  • Experience working with young people with disability or neurodivergence
  • Tertiary qualifications in youth work, community services or education
