Lifestyle Assistant

Job No: ORALA349125
Location: Kingaroy

Your passion for making a difference can bring joy, dignity, and connection to those living with dementia. We are looking for our next Lifestyle Assistant 35 hours/week for one super star or two part-time roles based at Orana Aged Care in Kingaroy.

About Us:

At Lutheran Services, we draw on our rich Lutheran tradition of caring for everyone – the individual, family, and community. We support older people, young people and their families, people living with a disability or mental illness, and families experiencing domestic violence and hardship. Together with the congregations that founded us, we’ve been serving Queenslanders since 1935. We currently have more than 20 sites across the state, from Tallebudgera to Rockhampton.

As a member of the Lutheran Services team, you will enjoy a great work-life balance, generous benefits, flexible arrangements, and ongoing opportunities for professional development and career progression. Based in our Support Centre in Milton, you will be joining a friendly team of various departments that are all there to support the wider Lutheran Services organization and make a difference in the lives of many people, every day!

About You

You’re someone who thrives on building meaningful connections and improving the quality of life for older citizens. Whether you’ve worked in aged care, mental health, disability services, or supported someone personally living with dementia, your empathy and creativity are your greatest assets in this role.

You’ll excel in this role if you:

  • Enjoy designing and delivering engaging activities that make people feel valued and connected.
  • Have a talent for understanding individual needs and tailoring programs to suit people with different personalities and a variety of cognitive and physical abilities.
  • Are patient, compassionate, and genuinely committed to improving the lives of people living with dementia.
  • A formal qualification in leisure and lifestyle, health, arts, music therapy, occupational therapy, or a related field is a plus, but what matters most is your capacity to engage and create meaningful connections with people living with dementia.

What You’ll Do

As a Lifestyle Assistant, you’ll bring your creativity and heart to create enriching experiences for our residents. Your work will make every day brighter for those in your care.

You will:

  • Get to know each resident by learning about their interests, history, and personal preferences to design meaningful activities.
  • Plan and deliver engaging programs, both one-on-one and in groups, that promote social connection, wellbeing, and joy.
  • Support community engagement by identifying opportunities for residents to connect with the wider world.
  • Collaborate with families and team members to ensure programs align with residents’ unique needs.

Why This Role?

This isn’t just a job – it’s a chance to make a real difference. Working at Orana Aged Care, you’ll be part of a team that values your contributions and supports your professional growth.

Here’s what we offer:

  • Flexibility: Choose full-time or part-time roles to suit your lifestyle.
  • Salary Packaging: Maximize your take-home pay by reducing taxable income.
  • Career Development: We’ll support your growth with training, study leave, and opportunities to advance.
  • Employee Benefits: Discounts on health insurance, energy providers, and more, plus access to an Employee Assistance Program.
