Your passion for making a difference can bring joy, dignity, and connection to those living with dementia. We are looking for our next Lifestyle Assistant 35 hours/week for one super star or two part-time roles based at Orana Aged Care in Kingaroy.
About Us:
At Lutheran Services, we draw on our rich Lutheran tradition of caring for everyone – the individual, family, and community. We support older people, young people and their families, people living with a disability or mental illness, and families experiencing domestic violence and hardship. About You
You’re someone who thrives on building meaningful connections and improving the quality of life for older citizens. Whether you’ve worked in aged care, mental health, disability services, or supported someone personally living with dementia, your empathy and creativity are your greatest assets in this role.
You’ll excel in this role if you:
- Enjoy designing and delivering engaging activities that make people feel valued and connected.
- Have a talent for understanding individual needs and tailoring programs to suit people with different personalities and a variety of cognitive and physical abilities.
- Are patient, compassionate, and genuinely committed to improving the lives of people living with dementia.
- A formal qualification in leisure and lifestyle, health, arts, music therapy, occupational therapy, or a related field is a plus, but what matters most is your capacity to engage and create meaningful connections with people living with dementia.
What You’ll Do
As a Lifestyle Assistant, you’ll bring your creativity and heart to create enriching experiences for our residents. Your work will make every day brighter for those in your care.
You will:
- Get to know each resident by learning about their interests, history, and personal preferences to design meaningful activities.
- Plan and deliver engaging programs, both one-on-one and in groups, that promote social connection, wellbeing, and joy.
- Support community engagement by identifying opportunities for residents to connect with the wider world.
- Collaborate with families and team members to ensure programs align with residents’ unique needs.
