We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller with the technical skills and passion for driving financial excellence and strategic growth, but who also understands that what you do is ultimately about people serving people.


At Lutheran Services, we draw on our rich Lutheran tradition of caring for everyone – the individual, family, and community. We support older people, young people and their families, people living with a disability or mental illness, and families experiencing domestic violence and hardship. Together with the congregations that founded us, we’ve been serving Queenslanders since 1935. We currently have more than 20 sites across the state, from Tallebudgera to Rockhampton.

What You'll Do:

    • Drive Financial Excellence: Oversee all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Strategic Planning: Contribute to strategic financial planning and decision-making to optimize performance and manage risk.
    • Team Leadership: Inspire and lead a diverse finance team, promoting a positive culture and continuous development.
    • Process Improvement: Identify efficiencies and drive improvements in financial processes, policies, and systems.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government bodies, suppliers, and clients.

What We're Looking For:

    • CPA/CA qualification with strong experience in a leadership role.
    • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage complex financial operations.
    • Communication: Exceptional communication skills to effectively liaise with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
    • Leadership: Proven experience in leading and developing high-performing finance teams.
    • Technical Expertise: CPA/CA qualified with a deep understanding of technical accounting standards and compliance requirements.
    • Problem-Solving: A natural problem-solver who is motivated and willing to find innovative solutions.
    • Adaptability: Ability to multitask and pivot to new priorities in a dynamic environment.

Position Details:

    • Location: Support Centre
    • Reports to: Executive Lead Finance
    • Direct Reports: Shared Services Manager, Senior Financial Accountant, Finance and System Coordinator, Financial Accountant x2
    • Type: Full-time, Fixed-term (12 months)
