Shape Excellence in Care as Head of Quality and Risk

Lutheran Services is a not-for-profit organisation, providing exceptional care and support to communities across Queensland for the past 90 years. The organisation delivers aged care, retirement living, and home care services for older people, alongside community services including mental health, disability, youth and family, and domestic and family violence support. Drawing on a rich Lutheran tradition of care, Lutheran Services places the wellbeing of clients and residents at the heart of everything we do—supporting over 6,000 people each year across more than twenty-five sites.

About the Role:

The newly created position of Head of Quality and Risk is a key leadership role supporting the organisation’s next phase of strategic growth. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role will develop and promote enterprise-wide frameworks for governance, risk management, compliance, quality, and business continuity through collaboration and strong stakeholder engagement.

This is more than a governance role. It is an opportunity to go beyond compliance requirements and lead the organisation into the art of quality—where systems, values, and human connection come together to elevate our care and services

Key Areas of Delivery Include:

  • Develop and embed enterprise-wide risk, compliance and quality frameworks across the organisation
  • Advise senior leaders and build capability to embed a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Champion Lutheran identity and values in the design and leadership of quality and risk practices.
  • Embed client-centred practices that enhance meaningful care experiences.
  • Lead a high-performing team to manage operational risk systems and feedback to ensure safe, responsive, and learning-focused services.

About You:

You are an experienced leader with a record of achievement in leading quality improvement, compliance, and risk functions within a complex service delivery environment in the health and human services sector.

You have led or overseen the implementation or continuous improvement of quality and risk systems aligned with Australian (or a comparable jurisdiction) standards and driven organisation-wide improvement. A knowledge of health and human service regulatory frameworks such as ACQSC, NDIS, ISO, and NRSCH is an advantage.

You are confident building relationships, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to strategic governance. Most importantly, you bring heart to compliance, quality, risk, and the pursuit of care delivery that is safe, meaningful, and grounded in purpose.
