Position: Church Engagement Lead
Location: Support Centre, Milton
Employment Type:  Fulltime, 12 Month Maximum Term Contract - Possible extension
Remuneration: $100k - $110K + Superannuation + Salary Packaging + Additional Benefits

 

If you’re passionate about strengthening relationships between faith‑based communities and care organisations, this role offers meaningful purpose and influence. As the Church Engagement Lead, you’ll support Lutheran Services to deepen its partnership with congregations, pastors, and the broader Lutheran Church. You will help express, nurture and strengthen Lutheran identity across the organisation while supporting formation, connection and shared mission.

 

About You

You’re someone who builds trust with ease, understands Church life deeply, and communicates with authenticity and respect. You can navigate diverse viewpoints, foster unity, and champion mission‑aligned practice. Ideally, you have:

  • Tertiary qualifications or strong demonstrated understanding of Lutheran theology
  • Deep understanding of the Lutheran faith, Church structures, governance and protocols
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Strong conflict‑resolution and negotiation capability
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with pastors, congregations and stakeholders
  • Experience leading others toward shared goals and outcomes
  • High attention to detail, strong problem‑solving ability, and a valid Police Check

Desirable: Experience within health, aged care or community service environments

 

About the Role

You will play an essential role in cultivating meaningful, collaborative relationships between Lutheran Services and the Church. This role contributes to how Lutheran identity is lived, expressed and understood across the organisation. You will:

  • Build and support strong relationships with local congregations, pastors, and district stakeholders.
  • Maintain systems that track and strengthen engagement with the wider Church
  • Support the development and administration of MOUs between Lutheran Services and congregations
  • Develop communication approaches with parishes, District leadership and Church networks
  • Support the Origin Stories project to deepen understanding and connection
  • Partner with fundraising teams to promote giving, volunteering and congregational engagement
  • Provide advice on Church matters and support Lutheran identity training and formation
  • Act as a values‑aligned ambassador in all stakeholder interactions
  • Support a positive and safe workplace culture and assist with MIC projects as needed
