Position: Safeguarding Adviser
Location: Support Centre – Milton + Regular Travel to Sites.
Employment Type: Full-Time 12 Month Contract + Possible Extension
Remuneration: $130K + Superannuation + Salary Packaging + Benefits
As a Safeguarding Adviser with Lutheran Services, you’ll play a critical role in strengthening our safeguarding culture and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the people who use our services. You’ll work closely with operational leaders, service teams, and external stakeholders to embed best practice, provide expert advice, and ensure our organisation meets its safeguarding obligations. About You:
You understand the importance that compliance and safeguarding make to quality service delivery. You are excited about the opportunity of joining a growing organisation. You might have experience in a safeguarding role or have transferable skills that might come from professional backgrounds such as criminology, psychology, allied health, clinical practice, social services or other relevant human services fields. Above all, you are relational, able to build trust quickly, and skilled at supporting and coaching teams. In this role you will bring:
- Experience in an advisory or practice support role with vulnerable people
- Strong relational capability, with the ability to influence and coach leaders and staff
- Comprehensive understanding of legislation, accreditation and safeguarding compliance (or an ability to become quickly familiar)
- Experience facilitating reflective practice and embedding best-practice safeguarding
- Ability to navigate confidential, sensitive and complex matters with sound judgement
- Knowledge of consumer‑focused service environments
- Experience designing and delivering training programs is advantageous.
Experience in aged care setting would be highly regarded.
You will also need:
- National Police Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check
- Current C-class driver’s licence
- A degree-level qualifications in human services or similarly relevant degree
About the Role:
Reporting to the Head of Quality & Risk, this role drives a consistent, evidence-informed safeguarding approach across Lutheran Services. This is not just an advisory role, but will have you actively visiting sites, working at support centre and being actively involved in the implementation of our Safeguarding Framework. You’ll partner with Service Managers, People Services, and the Safeguarding Steering Group to ensure high‑quality safeguarding practice is understood, implemented and sustained. In this role you will:

Establish effective processes for identifying, responding to and escalating safeguarding concerns, including mandatory reporting.

Build organisational capability in safeguarding assessments, responses and reporting.

Design and deliver safeguarding training, awareness activities and capability‑building resources

Contribute to policy development, continuous improvement initiatives, and the evaluation of safeguarding practice across services

Monitor service delivery to identify safeguarding practice gaps and provide informed evidence-based guidance

Manage relationships with government agencies and regulatory bodies, and prepare high‑quality data, reporting and insights for governance and leadership groups
There is some flexibility to work from home after probation subject to organisational needs.
