Senior Maintenance & Grounds Officer
Part time, dual‑site role

Locations: Cabanda Retirement Village (Rosewood) and Tabeel Retirement Village (Laidley)
Hours: 60 hours per fortnight, worked across four or five days per week by agreement
Roster: Monday to Friday, flexible days by agreement, 8.00am to 4.00pm
Site split: Three days at Cabanda (Rosewood) and one day at Tabeel (Laidley)
Remuneration: $31.43 – $33.11 per hour plus super, salary packaging and access to staff discounts and benefits

The Opportunity

Lutheran Services is seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance & Grounds Officer to deliver high‑quality grounds, gardens and maintenance services across our retirement living communities at Cabanda (Rosewood) and Tabeel (Laidley).

This is a hands‑on role with a strong focus on grounds and gardens, supported by general maintenance responsibilities. It is well suited to someone who takes pride in outdoor presentation, enjoys working autonomously, and values building positive relationships with residents, site leaders and contractors.

You will play a key role in ensuring both villages are safe, welcoming and well presented, supporting a positive resident experience and maintaining compliance with WHS and regulatory requirements.

Flexibility is available regarding which days are worked between Monday and Friday, with hours able to be spread across either four or five days per week.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds and gardens focus:

  • Maintain lawns, garden beds, hedges and landscaped areas to a high presentation standard
  • Undertake mowing, pruning, mulching, planting and general horticultural works
  • Monitor irrigation systems and carry out basic adjustments and repairs
  • Identify opportunities to improve garden layouts and outdoor spaces

Maintenance and general duties:

  • Coordinate and deliver planned and reactive maintenance across both villages
  • Support the development and implementation of maintenance and grounds schedules
  • Undertake hands‑on maintenance work aligned with your skills and qualifications
  • Liaise with contractors, trades, engineers and suppliers
  • Maintain accurate maintenance systems, records and reports
  • Monitor stock levels and order tools, equipment and chemicals as required
  • Support fire safety compliance, servicing schedules and documentation
  • Actively participate in WHS practices, including contractor compliance
  • Provide advice to the Retirement Living Manager on building, maintenance and grounds projects
  • Participate in on‑call arrangements as required

About You

You will bring:

  • Strong experience in grounds, gardens and property maintenance, ideally in a senior or lead capacity
  • Practical horticultural knowledge with a passion for outdoor presentation
  • Relevant qualifications or demonstrated hands‑on experience in grounds and maintenance
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • A customer‑focused, resident‑centred approach
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites
  • Current Queensland Driver’s Licence
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance or willingness to obtain
  • Experience in retirement living, aged care or not‑for‑profit environments is desirable
